First let me say that the only reason I am giving this update 4 stars is because, on its own, it renders the turret unremovable or at least very cumbersome and involved to remove. The printed parts and the engineering are the usual top-notch quality from Ryan but the implementation largely makes the turret more-or-less permanently attached to the hull.
I opted to implement the RC_BobM ‘odification which consists of a 300mm lazy susan bearing on which Ryans printed ‘sprocket’ is mounted on. Details can be found on both RCU and SAG forums.
Both of these mods in combination result in a smooth, functional and fairly easy removable turret.

I found the gear ring to be extremely tight on my turret base and it required about an hour of sanding and fitting to get it on. I agree with ThomasJW and plan to come up with a modification to make the turret easily removable. I may just go with letting gravity do the work and will post results. I am adding two figures and a late cupola, so the extra weight may be sufficient to keep it in place under most conditions.
